Bronchitis >> Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchi. Symptoms include: Coughing up extra mucus, sometimes with blood Wheezing Difficulty breathing Runny nose More specifically, it may refer to: Acute bronchitis, caused by viruses or bacteria and lasting several days or weeks Chronic bronchitis, a persistent, productive cough lasting at least three months in two consecutive years. Chronic bronchitis can be caused by inhaling irritating fumes or dusts. Chemical solvents and smoke, including tobacco smoke, have all been linked to acute bronchitis. Acute bronchitis is often a symptom of the common cold. Viral bronchitis is contagious.[1] In bronchitis, the membranes lining the larger air passages (bronchi) become inflamed and an excessive amount of mucus is produced. The person with bronchitis develops a bad cough to get rid of the mucus. Sometimes it can lead to pneumonia.

Emphysema >>
Emphysema is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, as it is otherwise known, formerly termed a chronic obstructive lung disease). It is often caused by exposure to toxic chemicals, including long-term exposure to tobacco smoke. Emphysema is characterized by loss of elasticity (increased Pulmonary compliance) of the lung tissue, from destruction of structures supporting the alveoli, and destruction of capillaries feeding the alveoli, owing to the action of alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. Thus the small airways collapse during exhalation, as alveolar collapsibility has increased. This impedes airflow and traps air in the lungs, as with other obstructive lung diseases. Symptoms include shortness of breath on exertion and later at rest, hyperventilation, and an expanded chest.

Lung Cancer >> Lung cancer is a disease of uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung. This growth may lead to metastasis, which is invasion of adjacent tissue and infiltration beyond the lungs. The vast majority of primary lung cancers are carcinomas of the lung, derived from epithelial cells.  The most common symptoms are shortness of breath, coughing (including coughing up blood), and weight loss.

COPD >> Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease of the lungs in which the airways become narrowed. This leads to a limitation of the flow of air to and from the lungs causing shortness of breath. In contrast to asthma, the limitation of airflow is poorly reversible and usually gets progressively worse over time.
